A BEAUTIFUL THING: Daily devotion in the middle of COVID-19
As this outbreak started to paralyze my daily routine starting March 17th of 2020, I was entoiled while catching up with my 20+ daily devotion back logs. Then on my 66th day, I came across this devotion entitled : A Beautiful Thing. wherein it sums up all the Beautiful things that happened to Moses and the Israelites (Old Testament) and Jesus' Crucifixion ( new testament).
These stories are an epitome of Irony as the Israelites were given the Ten Commandments out of God's love while the people, instead of enjoying it, lived a life of indirection for 40 long years.
Likewise when Jesus was about to be crucified, a woman poured an expensive perfume over His head. Doing so fulfills the anointing Jesus' body for burial ahead of time.
While these two are glaring example of two different perception of Beautiful, I was left with two reflective questions: What is the meaning of beautiful in the Lord's eyes? and What is the meaning of beautiful in a human perspective? Which happened to answer itself, earlier this morning, before I even formulate the question.
Reflection: The beauty of creation is being masked by the sinful nature of humanity. The clear blue skies which we normally neglect due to our busy schedules, hectic work hours and weariness we fail to pause, look up and give thanks to the Heaven's beautiful creation. Now, we are in quarantine we either pause and appreciate what's left of creation - whichever is tangible in our eyes or repent and turn back to our sinful nature until the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ who will orchestrate the beauty of the world once again.
Reflection: A random, ordinary woman, whom Jesus met for the first time gave something valuable to the Lord whereas the disciples, whom Jesus spent his whole, if not all his ministry time failed to do such act. How much love can we give to the Lord in response to all the beautiful things He has done for our lives? more so How much love do we see in Him? I am writing once again, as an act of love to others and as an act of response to the One I love the most, the One whom all these things starts and ends ( Revelations 22:13 I am the Alpha and the Omega, the first and the last, the beginning and the end)
During this trying times, may our eyes be opened to one Truth: Our Hope is in Christ Jesus 1 Cor 15:19

- What is the meaning of beautiful in the Lord's eyes? Back tracking at 9 am this morning, while I patiently line up for a bank transaction, staring at the clear blue skies and the birds flying and the trees standing tall, reminds me of God's glory in creation. Out of God's love, He created a man who will take care of His creation and a woman to be on the man's side to accompany him. God's definition of beautiful is evident during the creation (Genesis 1:31 … and He saw it was very good!). God gave 10 simple laws which is the Ten Commandments for us to follow so we can enjoy a beautiful lifetime with Him. Two is which: Love God above all and Love Others.

- What is the meaning of beautiful in a human perspective? Back tracking during my devotion, meditating through the woman's act of pouring out an expensive oil to Jesus Christ- without any knowledge about the crucifixion she just do it out of her willful and loving act to Jesus.

The more I know You, the more I love You. The more I see You, the more I need You. Jesus beautiful to me.
